Despite of rainy weather, Rannametsa Dune Race 2016 brought together an impressive number of sports fans. According to initial report, the total number of participants was 1074- 575 runners, 84 nordic walkers/walkers in timed nordic walk/walk and 100 in not timed nordic walk/walk, 69 canicross participants, 45 dog hikers and 201 children in childrens races.
The winner of Dune Race 2016 was Karl Mäe from Altius Sportsclub (time: 27.59,2). Second place went to Olavi Allase from athletic club Järvala (time: 28.22,9) and the third place went to Mairo Mändla (time: 29.54,6).
The winner in womens ranking was Jana Treier from Sparta Sportsclub (time: 34.15,6). Second place went to Viivi-Anne Soots from Training Partners (time: 35.21,3) and the third place went to Liliana Torn (36.22,3).
The Canicross, that was held for the sixth time, was won by Dimitrii Zhukovo from Russia (time: 18.25,8). Dimitrii ran with greyster Storm. Janar Pähn with beauceron Bas finished second (time: 18.40,8) and the third place went to Tarvo Siim with beauceron Floyd (time: 19.40,9).
The Canicross winner in womens ranking was Astrid Mai Barsegjan with a siberian husky Ellerdona Thala (time: 20.09,7). Second place went to Marge Nõmm with husky Ducati (time: 22.43,0) and Merilin Jürisaar with siberian husky Suusi came in third (time: 22.59,7).
The Canicross and Dog Hiking was organized in cooperation with Agilityclub My Friend.
